About Us

Indigenous Essendon AFL footballer Nathan Lovett-Murray, proudly launched his record label, PAYBACK Records last year, and released their first album, MIXED TAPE number 1, featuring tracks from Tjimba and the Yung Warriors, Alter Egoz, Koori Boy, Johnny Mac, Meriki Hood, Mr Morgz, Young Philly and DJ Deadly.

Self-started in 2008, Nathan is passionate about the future of his record label which he hopes will give young Indigenous people a voice though hip–hop.

PAYBACK Records artists have embraced their culture and turn out deadly and innovative Urban Hip-hop music. Nathan's vision is for Victorian Koori Rap and Rhymes to belt out across the globe. As he stated recently, “We have started a movement, or a evolution if you like, for our young Victorian Kooris to stand up and for their music to be heard around the world”.

Nathan and his PAYBACK Records artists' passion for Urban Hip-hop music, and their own Indigenous culture, is a deadly fusion for the future of the label.

Nathan is immensely proud of his crew on the record label. “When I first started work with Tjimba & the Yung Warriors, I noticed there were a lot of talented Koori artists in Victoria who were not being represented nor recognised for their unique and individual musical styles, so I set-up a management company and record label which would allow us to aid one another in realising our musical visions and share them with the rest of the world”.
